Lackluster Phantom damped show

I first wanted to see Turnover at Pantages Theatre in Toronto over 15 years ago and I have ever since. His voice strained in certain parts and I felt he just couldn't carry out the part. Maybe I was biased because in my head I will always hear Michael Crawford as the Phantom, but I was terribly disappointed in the performance by Tim Martin Gleason. Trista Moldovan was great as Christine Daae though. I've listened to the original cast recording soundtrack so many times that I have every word and note memorized. He also played the Phantom as a weeping crybaby instead of a quietly (and inwardly) tormented soul, which I also didn't like.
